Biography:
Jim Dowell, Founder and President of JAMES DOWELL MANAGEMENT & MUSIC PRODUCTIONS based in Nashville Tennessee, is a veteran in the Country Music Entertainment Industry for over 30 years and is crafted and skilled in many areas of the Music Entertainment Industry.
He is an Award Winning ASCAP/BMI Songwriter and Music Publisher and has written songs in the Billboard Country Music Top Ten Hits Charts, Top 40 Charts and Cross-over Pop Charts.
Jim has had songs recorded by some of the "greats" such as: JOHNNY CASH, GEORGE JONES, GEORGE STRAIT, CHARLIE RICH, RANDY TRAVIS, GARY MORRIS, JUICE NEWTON, T. GRAHAM BROWN, EARL THOMAS CONLEY, BANDANA, HALFWAY 2 HAZARD, JIMI JAMISON-(SURVIVOR) and many others. He has received ASCAP/BMI Awards and Gold and Platinum Albums for his songs and work.
He has also worked successfully on Music Row as an Artist Manager, Record Producer and Music Event Producer.
As an Artist Manager, he has discovered new talent and has been instrumental in "the signing" of several Artists to Major Labels such as RCA Records, Warner Brothers Records, Mercury Records, Sony Records and others. While under his management, several of his Artists' became Billboard Charting #1 Hit and "Top Ten Hit" producing Artists.

Personal Manager for Sammy Kershaw Mercury Records:
Jim discovered and was personal manager of Sammy Kershaw in the mid 90's and was responsible for him obtaining a recording contract with Mercury Records - Nashville, Tennessee with then Mercury President, Harold Shedd. While at James Dowell Management, Sammy recorded 4 Albums, 2 of which were certified Platinum by the RIAA and 1 Gold. He recorded 10 Consecutive Top Ten Hits and a #1 Hit ("She Dont Know Shes Beautiful"). He was signed with Buddy Lee Attractions and was produced by Norro Wilson and Buddy Cannon. These 4 Albums and "Hits" are as follows:

Jim worked extensively with Sammy and his Record Label, Mercury Records, and promoted him not only in Radio where he and Jim traveled and made many appearances promoting his songs at Radio, but also in Television. Sammy had many appearances on The Grand Ole Opry, The Tonight Show," Hot Country Nights-Dick Clark Productions, CMT, TNN, The ACMs and The CMAs. He had many CMA and ACM Nominations and his Videos ran on CMT and GAC. Sammy has had more than 25 singles enter the TOP 40 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart. His music is still being played on Radio today.

Personal Manager for Chad Brock - Warner Brothers Records / Broken Bow Records:
Jim Dowell was personal manager to Chad Brock. While at James Dowell Management & Music Productions, Chad had signed
with Warner Brothers Records' Nashville Division in the late 1990s, releasing three Studio Albums: (1999's - Chad Brock) (2000's - Yes!) and (2001's - III ) for the label.
(Chad had songs recorded with the Great George Jones and Hank Willilams, Jr.) He was produced by Norro Wilson and Buddy Cannon and was signed with Buddy Lee Attractions.
These albums overall produced SEVEN singles on the Billboard Country Music Charts, including the (#1) Hit - "Yes!" and the Top Five "Ordinary Life." His single "YES" was the #2 most played song in Country Music in 2001 (right behind Toby Keith's "Can You See Me Now".)
Jim also traveled with Chad and coordinated many Country Music Festivals for he and his Band in the USA, Switzerland, France, Poland and Japan. Chad was nominated for "NEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR" on the ACM's. He had appearances on the ACMs, CMAs, The Grand Ole Opry and filmed several Music Videos that aired on CMT and GAC.

Personal Manager for Keith Gattis - RCA Records:

Jim Dowell managed Keith Gattis in the mid to late 90's and was instrumental in obtaining a Recording Contract for Keith with RCA Records, Nashville Tennessee. Keith was also signed to the William Morris Agency.
While at James Dowell Mangement, Keith recorded his first album release on RCA RECORDS "Keith Gattis."This album was produced by noted Grammy Award Winning Producer and Songwriter Norro Wilson.
Norro Wilson also produced such greats as Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Reba, Sammy Kershaw and Shania Twain to name just a few.
Keith (a native Texan) filmed several music videos and had appearances on TNN. He was recognized for his songwriting, vocals, his distinct look and great guitar playing.

Personal Manager for "Rocker" Jimi Jamison - Noted Lead Singer of the Rock Group SURVIVOR:
Beginning in 2009, Jim was personal manager to "rocker" Jimi Jamison, noted lead singer of the Rock Group SURVIVOR. Known for his powerful singing voice, Jamison's vocals can be heard on Top Billboard Rock Hits such as "Burning Heart" - (Rocky IV Movie), "The Search is Over," "High on You" and
many other Rock Hits. He also starred in several hit MTV Rock Videos.
As a solo Artist, Jimi Jamison was vocalist and co-songwriter of the BAYWATCH theme song "I'm Always Here" that can be heard in the famous opening Video of the show that has been viewed around the world.
Jamison has also contributed his background vocals on Albums for ZZ TOP and numerous others Artists.
As Jamison's manager, Jim worked with him extensively on his Solo Career and the development of his European tours. Jim was instrumental in coordinating concert tours, Radio promotions, personal appearances and Television appearances across Europe.
Jim and Jimi have also co-written several songs together on a recent album that has been released in Europe - "The Restless Kind" and "The Real Thing." "The Restless Kind" has won song contests in BERLIN, Germany and has gained popularity in Europe. Jim traveled with Jimi and coordinated several of his concert destinations that included Hawaii, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, Austria, France and Holland.

Jim was fortunate to begin his music career working with the "world famous" LORETTA LYNN at COAL MINERS MUSIC. He worked as a staff writer and song-plugger for Loretta for several years.
In the 80's, Jim began his own publishing companies: New Albany Music BMI and Hoosier Music ASCAP.
Jim produced many Demos for his publishing companies using "unsigned Artists" who became "major stars" in Country Music such as GARTH BROOKS, TRICIA YEARWOOD, T. GRAHAM BROWN, BILLY DEAN and others.

In the mid 80's, Warner Brothers Records released Travis' single, "On the Other Hand" which peaked at #67 on the Country Charts. After that, Jim personally pitched to Randy his next single on Warner Brothers Records, "1982."
"1982" became Randy's "1st Top-Ten Hit" and "breakthrough record" of his career and was followed by the re-release of "On the Other Hand" in 1986 which became Travis's first #1 Hit. "HEADED FOR A HEARTACHE" (Songwriters: Jim Dowell and Kent Blazy ) was Gary Morris' "1st Top Ten Hit" and "Breakthrough Record" of his career. It reached (#8) on the Billboard Country Music Charts and crossed over to the Pop Charts.
Jim received Songwriting and Music Pubishing Awards from BMI and ASCAP for "Among The Most Performed Country Songs". He also received BMI's Award for 1,000,000 Broadcast Performances for "Headed For A Heartache."

Gary Morris, noted for his amazing vocals, is a Grammy Award winner and CMA "Song of the Year" Award winner. He signed his recording contract with Warner Brothers Records, Nashville Tennessee in the 80's. After a pair of minor hits landed just inside the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart, he scored his "breakthrough hit" with "Headed For A Heartache" which reached (No. 8) on the Country Billboard Charts and crossed over to the Pop Charts.

JOHNNY CASH and JUNE CARTER CASH and Family were in the recording studio cutting a Gospel single "IN GOD's HANDS" co-written and co-produced by Jim.

JOHNNY CASH was a frequent visitor to our Recording Studio on Music Row.
One day while John was at the studio, he approached Jim and asked if he had written any Gospel Songs he could listen to. So Jim played him "In God's Hands" and he loved it and wanted to record it. The above photograph was taken the day the song was recorded.
Accompanying John on the background vocals were the legendary "June Carter Cash and The Carter Sisters, Rosie Carter (John and June's daughter) and Kat Dowell. (Jim's wife Kat was invited by June and Rosie to sing with them and they actually stopped the session so she would be included.)
Jim was so honored when JOHN and JUNE also performed "In God's Hands" from Central Park, New York, New York on the Worldwide - Televised "Billy Graham Crusade."
There was so much "laughter and joy" in the studio the day the song was recorded, it will always remain a "Treasured Memory"...

Education:
Jim earned a Master's Degree in Business of Education and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. He received a "Baseball Athletic Scholarship" and was a "Pitcher" for the Indiana University Baseball Team.
In his hometown of New Albany, Indiana, while in High School, Jim was a noted athlete and excelled in sports. He played Football, Basketball and Baseball. He was a "Pitcher" for his High School Baseball Team and was "Quarterback" of his High School Football Team.
He moved to Nashville in the early 70's and pursued a career in the Country Music Entertainment Industry.

Kat Dowell
Kat was born in Nashville, Tennessee and began working in the Banking Industry during her high school and college years. She went on to work for a large Hotel Construction - Development Firm and later a large Hospital Corporation located in Brentwood, Tennessee.
After her marriage to Jim, she began working in the Country Music Entertainment Industry along side her husband Jim. During this time, she has worked as a Recording Studio Manager on Music Row, Co-founder and Vice President of a major Motorcycle and Music Festival held in Downtown Nashville and Franklin, Tennessee for 9 years. Currently, and for more than 15 years, works in Office Management and Marketing in their Artist Management - Music Productions and Real Estate businesses.
Kat loves the outdoors and is an avid Equestrian and animal lover and rides Harley-Davidson's. She and Jim reside just outside of Nashville, Tennessee.
